AV Book Club: “Stormy Weather”

Jester RIPIt’s been a heartbreaking year on Assateague. Five horses have died or been killed, including Jester, who I learned about during the interviews for Episode 5, “Wild Horses.” The sadness pouring off posts on Facebook shows just how intimately connected we are with the life of the horses and the island.

If you’re looking for a little solace, I highly recommend “Stormy Weather, A Spiritual Adventure on Assateaguestormy_weather_cover Island.” It’s a short book that tells the true story of a woman who comes to the island in a time of crisis and meets a Pony Ambassador named Stormy Weather, who takes her on a healing journey. (Stormy is revealed to be Chance, or horse #T5AEK.) It’s a lovely, touching book, and worth a read. You can get it on Amazon or possibly still in the National Seashore Visitor Center.
